Simon Walker is a passionate Gen-Y entrepreneur, the brains behind The Leeap Project, and advisor with an extensive background in early business development, capital raising and business expansion.
From successfully raising angel investment capital for his own businesses, to being featured in Forbes and Venture Beat as one of Australia’s ‘young gun’ entrepreneurs, Simon continues to prove himself as a passionate and capable business leader.
Today Simon continues to build upon his successful track record as a valuable business development manager as well as helping to consult local business owners and entrepreneurs considering business expansion both locally in Australia and abroad into the United States.
Simon teaches other entrepreneurs about different types and effectiveness (or lack thereof) of motivation in business and the perception of failure and how they can be used to drive your business forward – not backwards.
Simon also sheds light on ‘effective’ business procedures/management which can often be derived from what creative people see in ‘big business’ – ie, that money = motivation = productivity = creativity. He believes that it is important to understand the appropriate types of motivation that will work for your business, but to also realise the dangers of assuming that money and ‘traditional’ management styles are still as effective and relevant in the 21st century as they once were. He discusses the impact that monetary motivations have on people’s creativity and productiveness (or lack thereof) at work.
Keynote seminar: “Why motivation and money don’t mix”
Simon will be exploring numerous experiments and historical examples to help uncover what drives our motivation and why in today’s era money has nothing to do with it. The importance of understanding how, why and what we do is a result of our human biology is critical in being able to successfully stimulate passion, drive creativity, inspire belief and lead a team.
Workshop: “Passionate mistakes”
Simon will be discussing why passion is the most powerful human condition and how harnessing it can be your greatest ally or most destructive enemy in all aspects of your business. Simon will talk about different ways you can use it in business as well as exploring ways in which money should be used in building and motivating a team.
